Detroit is waking up cloudy and humid, with temperatures around 73 degrees today, and patchy fog possible in spots before sunrise. The forecast then turns warmer, with afternoon temperatures reaching the mid-80s and scattered showers or thunderstorms possible later in the day.
Storm Chances Build After A Cloudy Start
Any early fog should fade quickly after sunrise, though a few showers or rumbles of thunder could linger through the morning. Skies remain mostly cloudy into midday, with temperatures climbing into the low 80s before a better chance for isolated storms develops during the afternoon and evening.
The National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac says today’s storms should be loosely organized, and the overall severe-weather threat is very low. A stronger cell could still produce a brief heavy downpour or a localized wet microburst, but no watches, warnings or advisories are in effect.
Warm Weekend Leads Into A Stormier Stretch
Tomorrow looks warmer, with a high near 87 and a chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly from midafternoon into the evening. Southwest winds will run 6 to 12 mph, with gusts up to 21 mph, before skies clear tomorrow night and temperatures dip to around 64.
Next Sunday brings mostly sunny skies and a high near 85, but the unsettled pattern returns next Sunday night. Showers and thunderstorms become more likely next Monday and Tuesday, while daytime highs ease from the mid-80s into the low 80s.
