A person was found dead inside a vehicle at a Madisonville Walmart Tuesday night, prompting a police investigation and a temporary shutdown of parts of the parking lot.
Officers assigned to the Madisonville Police Department’s Delta Patrol Shift were sent to the scene around 8:22 p.m. after a report of an unresponsive individual. In an initial update, the Madisonville Police Department said responding officers and emergency medical personnel determined the person was deceased.
Police Say There Is No Public Threat
Investigators were assisted by Monroe County EMS, Monroe County Rescue Squad, Madisonville Fire/Rescue and the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office. Portions of the Walmart parking lot were blocked while officers processed the scene.
Police described the case as an active investigation and said additional information will be released as it becomes available. The department also said it has no indication of any danger or threat to the public.

The initial police update did not identify the deceased person or provide a cause or manner of death. It also did not announce any arrests or criminal charges.
