North central Phoenix is getting a tightly packed dose of high-end new construction, with Camelot Homes preparing eight luxury residences priced at roughly $1.6 million apiece. The Viridian community will offer homes ranging from 2,713 to 3,003 square feet, giving buyers a boutique alternative to the Valley’s larger master-planned developments.
Scottsdale-based Camelot Homes is developing the project with Woodley Architectural Group, using a contemporary spin on midcentury modern design, according to KTAR News. The homes feature butterfly roofs, stacked brick exteriors and 12-foot sliding doors intended to blur the line between indoor and outdoor living.
Eight homes, two floor plans
Viridian is now pre-selling, and the builder’s current community listing shows prices beginning at $1,574,900, with a second plan listed from $1,654,900, according to Camelot Homes. The plans include three- and four-bedroom options, each with three-and-a-half bathrooms and a two-car garage.
An upstairs retreat with its own entrance
The most unusual feature is an optional privately accessed second-story retreat attached to one of the floor plans. The space can include its own living room, bedroom, bathroom, laundry area and full kitchen, a setup Arizona Foothills Magazine reported could work for multigenerational households, long-term guests, caregivers or a dedicated work-from-home suite.
Luxury infill near Uptown amenities
Rather than pushing farther into the desert, Viridian fills an established North Central Phoenix location near shopping, restaurants and neighborhood services. In Business Magazine previously described the development as a gated collection near 14th Street and Bethany Home Road, following the sellout of Camelot’s Paradigm community in North Phoenix.
The project also represents a more modern design direction for Camelot’s third-generation G3 division. Pro Builder reported that Viridian was planned as an eight-home infill project with distinctive butterfly-roof architecture, a deliberate departure from the builder’s more traditional Southwestern look.
Camelot says Viridian is currently pre-selling, with tours available by appointment and during listed community hours. For buyers who want new construction without leaving central Phoenix, the pitch is straightforward: contemporary architecture, a small gated setting and a six-figure price tag that puts the “boutique” in boutique development.
