
A 10-year-old boy is recovering after being seriously injured in a North Memphis hit-and-run Saturday night, with police searching for the driver who left him behind after the crash.
Memphis police were called around 10:26 p.m. to a pedestrian crash at Oakwood Street and Heard Avenue, according to Action News 5. The boy was taken to a hospital in critical condition before his status was later downgraded to non-critical, while the vehicle involved fled the scene.
Police Seek Witnesses In North Memphis Crash
The initial report did not identify the vehicle or its driver, leaving investigators dependent on witnesses, nearby surveillance footage and anyone who may have seen the collision or the vehicle departing.
Anyone with information can call or text 901-528-CASH, or 528-2274, according to CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County. The organization says tips can be submitted anonymously, with callers receiving a confidential code for follow-up.
