A grim discovery in north Monterey County has launched an investigation after an infant was found dead yesterday. Authorities have released few details about the circumstances surrounding the death.
According to CBS News Bay Area, first responders and Monterey County sheriff’s deputies were sent around 8:30 AM to the 100 block of Struve Road after receiving a report that an infant had been found in the area.
Sheriff’s Office Seeks Information
Fire crews declared the infant dead at the scene, ABC7 reported. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and asked anyone with information to call 831-755-3700.
The initial report did not identify the infant or provide a cause or manner of death. Investigators also have not publicly described how the infant was found or whether anyone has been arrested.
