A brief shower is possible before 8 a.m., but rain chances drop sharply as the morning unfolds. According to the National Weather Service, light northwest winds will turn west to southwest later Wednesday, with the hottest stretch arriving during the midafternoon.
Late-Night Storms Could Affect Thursday Morning
Showers and thunderstorms may develop between about 11 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday, with the best chance of rain in the overnight hours. Rainfall should generally be light, but a few storms could bring brief downpours or gusty winds as they move through the region.
Thursday will remain mostly sunny at times with a high near 87 degrees, though scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible. The storms are expected to have limited impacts, and no major severe-weather threat is currently indicated.
Coastal Flooding Possible Near High Tide
Forecasters are also flagging scattered minor coastal flooding during tonight's high tide, especially around vulnerable areas near lower New York Harbor and Newark Bay. The approaching new moon is increasing tidal ranges, so low-lying waterfront spots could see nuisance flooding even with relatively weak winds.
Friday and Saturday look like the week's easiest outdoor-weather days, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 84 and 81 degrees. Rain chances rise Sunday, with showers and thunderstorms more likely Sunday night into Monday before another mostly sunny day arrives Tuesday.
