Heat Peaks Thursday Afternoon
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms lingers before 10 a.m., then skies turn mostly sunny as temperatures climb from the 80s into the triple digits. The advisory includes Oklahoma County, and the National Weather Service warns that hot temperatures and humidity may cause heat illnesses.
Friday May Be Worse
Thursday night will be partly cloudy, with a low near 78°F, but the heat will barely back off after dark as the heat index could remain near 102°F. Friday is forecast to be the hottest day of the stretch, with sunshine, a high near 105°F and heat-index values around 109°F, followed by a Saturday high near 103°F.
Triple-Digit Heat Lingers
Sunday should still reach about 100°F, and Monday and Tuesday are expected to climb back to roughly 103°F and 102°F. Isolated showers or thunderstorms remain possible at times, including late Friday night into Saturday morning and again early next week, but rain chances are low and any relief is likely to be limited.
Stay Out Of The Worst Heat
Move strenuous outdoor work to the morning or evening, drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning when possible and avoid extended time in direct sun. Check on older relatives, neighbors and anyone without reliable cooling while overnight temperatures remain in the upper 70s.
