According to Action News Jax, a witness in the area reported seeing a man armed with a gun in the parking lot of Regal Avenues Stadium 20, the 20-screen cinema complex at 9525 Philips Highway known for its 4DX and RPX auditoriums, according to Visit Jacksonville. JSO confirmed the closure and the nature of the call, saying officers were responding to a reported suicidal person and that a portion of Philips Highway in front of the theater would remain shut while they worked the scene. Officers on scene were reported to have confronted the armed individual directly, per the outlet's report.

The closure hit one of Southside Jacksonville's busiest commercial corridors.
