Smoke Fades As The Afternoon Heats Up
The National Weather Service in Portland expects mostly sunny skies after the morning haze, with light north-northwest winds around 3 mph. Patchy smoke is forecast before 4 p.m., but a stronger push of cleaner air should become more noticeable by Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Residents should take the heat advisory seriously, particularly during the warmest afternoon hours. Forecasters recommend drinking plenty of fluids, staying out of direct sun, using air conditioning or another cool indoor space, and checking on relatives and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to heat.
Weekend Temperatures Begin A Slow Retreat
Friday will remain hot and sunny with a high near 91°F, followed by a slightly cooler Saturday near 88°F. Overnight lows will fall to about 61°F Friday night and 59°F Saturday night, offering some relief after sunset.
Sunday and Monday should top out near 84°F, with Tuesday near 82°F and Wednesday near 80°F. The extended forecast stays dry, with mostly sunny or partly sunny skies and no meaningful rain expected through the middle of next week.
