Smoke Arrives As Temperatures Climb
Areas of smoke are expected after 11 a.m., with sunny skies and a north-northeast wind around 6 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters say the smoke should linger into Tuesday but is not expected to be dense for most locations, and there is no rain in Monday’s forecast.
Monday night stays mild, with patchy smoke possible before 1 a.m. and a low around 63 degrees. Tuesday will be mostly sunny and cooler, topping out near 87 degrees before a stronger marine push helps change the pattern.
Cleaner, Cooler Weather Takes Over Wednesday
Onshore flow arriving Wednesday should clear lingering smoke from the Portland area, bringing a mostly sunny high near 81 degrees. The cooldown continues Thursday and Friday, when highs are forecast in the upper 70s with partly cloudy nights.
Saturday brings the week’s best chance for wet weather, although it remains modest: a 19% chance of light rain after 11 a.m. and a high near 74 degrees. Sunday rebounds slightly to a mostly sunny 76 degrees.

With heat and smoke arriving together, residents planning strenuous outdoor activities may want to check the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality’s Air Quality Index before heading out. The agency notes that smoke can be a particular concern for children, older adults and people with respiratory conditions.
