A predawn burst of gunfire on East Boston’s Meridian Street left a man dead Sunday, launching a homicide investigation that remained wide open Monday. Police have not released the victim’s identity, and no arrests have been announced.
According to MassLive, Boston police responded to a radio call about a person shot at about 1:24 a.m. and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating, but officials have not publicly identified a suspect or released a possible motive.
Police Seek Witnesses In Meridian Street Homicide
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470. Witnesses who may have cellphone video or other details from the area are also being urged to come forward, MassLive reported.
Anonymous tips can be submitted through the Boston Police Department’s CrimeStoppers program by calling 1-800-494-TIPS or texting the word “TIP” to CRIME, or 27463. The department says tipsters’ identities are protected, and photos or video can also be submitted anonymously.
