Sunday morning will stay mostly sunny, with temperatures climbing through the 80s before reaching the mid-90s during the afternoon. Winds will remain light from the south at 0 to 5 mph, doing little to ease the humidity. The National Weather Service puts the chance of showers and thunderstorms at 20% after 5 p.m., so storms are possible but should not dominate the day.
Monday May Be Even Hotter
The heat will not be leaving after Sunday. Monday is forecast to be sunny with a high near 97 and a heat index as high as 108, followed by highs near 94 Tuesday and 95 Wednesday. Overnight lows will offer limited relief, staying in the low to mid-70s.
Storm Chances Build Later This Week
Rain chances remain low through Wednesday, then begin to increase Thursday afternoon as temperatures reach about 96 degrees. Friday brings a 50% chance of afternoon storms, with a 60% chance Friday night, while Saturday looks somewhat cooler at 88 degrees with additional showers and thunderstorms possible. That late-week pattern may bring some relief from the heat, though it could complicate outdoor plans.
Heat Advisory Calls For Extra Caution
The National Weather Service advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning when possible and limit time in direct sun. Check on neighbors who may be vulnerable to the heat, and never leave children or pets in an unattended vehicle, even for a short errand.
