Smyrna residents were left rattled after a gunman fired five shots into an apartment door last Wednesday, then fled on foot before officers arrived. Police now warn that the rifle-carrying suspect may still be somewhere in the area.
The shooting happened at The Alcove Apartments off Atlanta Road SE, and no one was injured. As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, investigators released a suspect image Monday as they asked residents for help identifying him.
The man is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, though police have not confirmed his exact age or identity. He was photographed holding a rifle while wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt with distinctive writing, dark pants and white shoes.
Police Say Suspect May Still Be In The Smyrna Area
Lt. Meredith Holt said investigators have not determined whether the suspect lives at the complex, visits it regularly or simply spends time in Smyrna. Police also have not linked him to a vehicle, confirmed a motive or determined whether the apartment was specifically targeted.
Authorities consider the suspect armed and dangerous and are asking people not to approach him. Anyone who recognizes the man or has information should contact Detective Elliott at 678-631-5119 or email [email protected], according to the police appeal reported by FOX 5.
