Heat Advisory Runs Through Monday Night
A Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, August 3, across Sacramento and surrounding parts of the valley. The National Weather Service Sacramento office says temperatures in the broader advisory area could reach 102 to 108 degrees, with widespread Moderate HeatRisk and pockets of Major HeatRisk.
Winds in Sacramento should stay light, generally from the northwest at around 3 mph, while the wider northern Sacramento Valley and nearby foothills could see breezier conditions. Very dry afternoon air and limited overnight relief are also contributing to elevated fire-weather concerns in parts of the region.
A Brief Midweek Dip Comes Before More Heat
Monday night should turn clear with a low near 65 degrees, followed by another sunny day Tuesday with a high around 101. Temperatures may ease slightly Wednesday and Thursday, reaching about 99 and 100 degrees, respectively, before climbing back to roughly 102 on Friday and Saturday.
Sunday looks a little less punishing but still hot, with sunshine and a high near 96 degrees. Residents should drink plenty of water, limit time outdoors during the afternoon, use air conditioning when possible, and check on older adults, young children, neighbors and anyone especially vulnerable to heat.
