Sacramento wakes to clear skies and temperatures around 66 degrees Tuesday morning, but the thermometer is headed toward 101 by afternoon as a Heat Advisory remains in effect through 10 p.m. The first major heat surge of the week arrives with no rain in sight and only limited relief after sunset.
Temperatures will climb quickly, reaching the mid-80s by late morning, the mid-90s early in the afternoon and about 100 degrees by 3 p.m. Southwest winds will generally stay between 5 and 8 mph, while skies remain sunny and the chance of rain holds at zero, according to the National Weather Service Sacramento office.
A Brief Midweek Dip Won’t Last
Wednesday brings a small step down, with a sunny high near 99 and an overnight low around 62. The heat then rebuilds Thursday through Saturday, with highs near 100 Thursday, 101 Friday and 102 Saturday.
Warm Nights Add To The Heat
Overnight temperatures will remain mostly in the low to mid-60s through the weekend, keeping homes and pavement warm after sunset. Sunday stays sunny with a high near 99 before temperatures ease to around 92 Monday, still dry but noticeably less punishing.
Heat Advisory Covers Sacramento Region
The advisory remains in effect Tuesday evening as the Sacramento Valley faces widespread Moderate HeatRisk, with pockets of Major HeatRisk during the hottest part of the day. Residents planning outdoor work or exercise should aim for the morning or evening, drink water regularly and check on older adults, children, neighbors and pets during the afternoon peak.
