A San Antonio homicide case that has remained unresolved for more than three years is back in the spotlight, with investigators asking the public to help identify the person who killed 20-year-old Brandon Caldwell outside an East Side apartment complex.
The shooting happened around 6:45 p.m. on January 22, 2023, in the 4500 block of Lavender Lane near South W.W. White Road, according to KSAT. Caldwell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The case is still listed on the Crime Stoppers unsolved-crimes roster, underscoring that no public breakthrough has been announced. Tuesday’s renewed appeal comes more than three years after the fatal gunfire.
Police Say Lost Jewelry Led Caldwell Back Toward The Parking Lot
According to the account detailed by KSAT, Caldwell arrived at the complex to meet his ex-girlfriend and became involved in a minor physical altercation with her current boyfriend. Caldwell later walked toward his vehicle, realized he had lost some jewelry during the confrontation and returned to search for it.
After finding or searching for the jewelry, authorities said Caldwell walked toward his vehicle again. An unknown person then fired multiple shots from the side of the complex closest to Caldwell’s car, police said.
