According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are most likely between 1 and 4 p.m., with storm chances continuing into the evening. The overall chance of rain is 40%, and winds should remain light from the east at 5 mph or less, although stronger storms could produce gusty winds.
Weekend Heat Settles In
Friday night will dip only to around 77 degrees, with a chance of storms before 7 p.m. Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, are forecast to be sunny with highs near 98, while Monday through Thursday, September 3, could bring highs around 99 under mostly sunny skies.
Overnight lows will mostly remain in the mid-to-upper 70s, limiting the amount of relief after sunset. Sunday night could also bring southeast wind gusts up to 20 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 25 mph Monday night.
Heat Safety Matters
Plan strenuous outdoor work for earlier or later in the day, take frequent breaks, and drink water before feeling thirsty.
