Tampa starts Monday under clear skies, but the calm morning will give way to another dangerous blast of summer heat. The temperature is expected to climb to about 97 degrees, with heat-index readings reaching 108 to 110 as humidity builds.
A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday across Tampa Bay and much of west-central and southwest Florida. The National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning or shade, avoid strenuous midday activity and check on neighbors who may be more vulnerable to heat illness.
Sunny Skies And Afternoon Winds
Rain is unlikely Monday, with only a 4% chance of precipitation in Tampa. West-northwest winds will increase from nearly calm in the morning to around 10 mph during the afternoon, offering little relief from the heat.
Monday night will stay mostly clear, with temperatures dropping only to around 80 degrees. The overnight heat index could still reach 104, while west winds hold between 3 and 9 mph.
Storm Chances Return Tuesday
Tuesday will begin mostly sunny before scattered showers and thunderstorms develop after noon. The high should reach about 96 degrees, with a 30% chance of rain and heat-index values again near 108.
Storm chances rise sharply Wednesday, reaching 60% as temperatures top out near 95. Showers and thunderstorms could become more common from late morning through the afternoon as more moisture moves back into the region.
Hot And Humid Pattern Holds Through Sunday
The rest of the week stays hot, though afternoon highs ease slightly into the low to mid-90s. Thursday through Sunday bring daily chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms ranging from 40% to 50%, with coastal rain possible earlier and storms more likely inland later in the day.
For outdoor plans, the safest window will generally be early morning or after the strongest heat fades. Even when storms return, muggy conditions will stick around, so brief rain showers should not be mistaken for a real break from summer.
