Old Town Scottsdale is losing one of its long-running dinner destinations, as Old Town Tortilla Factory says it will close after three decades in business. The announcement did not include a final service date or explain what prompted the closure, leaving the restaurant’s next chapter just as hazy as its patio misters.
In a Friday announcement, ABC15 Arizona reported that the restaurant thanked customers for the celebrations, family dinners, date nights and other memories made there. The message called the closure “an end of an era” and told guests to stay tuned for what comes next.
Scottsdale Landmark Leaves Its Old Town Adobe Home
The setting was a major part of the restaurant’s identity. Old Town Tortilla Factory’s website describes a Southwestern menu with a Mexican twist served from a historic adobe home, along with a 1,400-square-foot flagstone patio shaded by mature pecan trees and a bar featuring more than 120 tequilas.
The restaurant was already part of Scottsdale’s documented downtown landscape in the 1990s. The Scottsdale Public Library catalogs a 1996 city photograph of the Old Town Tortilla Factory, while a 1996 Phoenix New Times review listed the restaurant at its longtime Main Street location.
No Closure Reason Or Replacement Concept Yet
The ownership has not publicly said whether the building will become another restaurant, whether the Tortilla Factory name could return elsewhere or when the last meals will be served. ABC15 Arizona said it requested additional information from the restaurant but had not received a response when its report was published.
For now, Scottsdale diners are left with a familiar Old Town question: what replaces a local institution once the final reservation disappears? The restaurant’s goodbye offered only one clue, promising that guests should “stay tuned for what is next.”
