Friday Heat Arrives Early
Friday will be sunny, with a high near 111 degrees and heat index values as high as 108. East-southeast winds will remain light at 3 to 7 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas.
An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect through 8 p.m. Sunday. Friday night will stay mostly clear, but the temperature is expected to bottom out around 90 degrees, with heat index values still reaching 106 and little meaningful relief after sunset.
Saturday And Sunday Look Even Hotter
Saturday and Sunday are forecast to reach 113 degrees, while overnight lows hover around 91. Sunday could also bring southeast winds gusting to 21 mph, adding another challenge for anyone working or exercising outdoors.
Some Relief Arrives Next Week
Temperatures ease slightly Monday through Wednesday, with highs of 110, 108 and 107 degrees. Thursday could be the first day with a more noticeable monsoon influence, as the forecast calls for a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m., although rain chances remain low in the valley.
The city advises residents to drink water, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest hours and check on neighbors who may be especially vulnerable. Las Vegas officials also warn that children and pets should never be left in parked vehicles, where temperatures can become deadly within minutes.
