Police say six unidentified individuals were seen fleeing westbound on Griswold Avenue in two vehicles immediately after the shots were fired.
The NYPD is now asking the public for help identifying the six suspects, according to NYPD Crime Stoppers, which posted photos and details from the incident. The address sits in a low-density, waterfront pocket of the East Bronx that historically housed the Evers Marina and Seaplane Base, per AirNav. Outlook Avenue itself dead-ends near the bay, while Griswold Avenue functions as a primary westbound route toward Bruckner Boulevard and the New England Thruway, according to Realtor.com — a route that would have given the two fleeing vehicles quick access to major arteries out of the neighborhood.
The shooting falls under the jurisdiction of the NYPD's 45th Precinct, based out of a station house at 2877 Barkley Avenue in Throggs Neck. The command patrols 10.6 miles of waterfront across Country Club, Throggs Neck, Pelham Bay, City Island, and Co-op City, according to NYC.gov. The precinct has historically ranked among the safer patrol areas in the borough, though the Bronx Times reported in May 2025 that officers there saw notable year-over-year increases in property and vehicle crimes even as major crime fluctuated elsewhere in the borough.
