Wedding planning in downtown Oklahoma City is about to get a decidedly hotel-ballroom makeover. The Skirvin Wedding Showcase arrives Sunday with a three-hour immersive event for couples who want to see gowns, florals, décor, vendors and wedding spaces assembled in one historic setting.
Running from 1 to 4 p.m., the showcase will let attendees move through transformed event spaces, meet Oklahoma wedding professionals and sample cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, according to the Skirvin's event page. Admission includes valet parking, fashion presentations, vendor activations and access to the event's wedding-planning experiences.
A Bridal Expo With A Movie-Night Detour
The showcase is designed less like a row of folding tables and more like a guided look at what a wedding at the Skirvin could feel like. KOKH reports that the program will include live demonstrations and a screening of The Wedding Planner, alongside displays of gowns, floral arrangements, décor and other wedding essentials.
VIP ticket holders get a private lounge with a dedicated bartender, two complimentary drinks and special appetizers, per KOKH. General admission includes cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, so nobody has to plan a fake wedding reception on an empty stomach.
Why The Skirvin Is Doing The Heavy Lifting
The showcase leans into the Skirvin's identity as a historic downtown venue rather than treating the hotel as a blank convention box. The hotel's wedding materials highlight spaces including the 6,120-square-foot Grand Ballroom, the 2,600-square-foot Venetian Room and smaller rooms suited to more intimate celebrations, according to Skirvin Hilton.
For couples still sorting out a venue, vendors and visual style, the afternoon offers a concentrated way to compare ideas before booking decisions get expensive. Tickets are available through the hotel's event listing, with the showcase taking over the Skirvin on Sunday.
