Boston is getting a cool, gray reset to summer Friday, with light rain already falling near Logan and temperatures in the mid-60s early in the morning. Showers will remain possible through the day as northeast winds push temperatures only into the low 70s.
Friday Stays Cloudy With Scattered Showers
Rain chances will hover around 40% Friday, with mostly cloudy skies and northeast winds between 8 and 13 mph. Most neighborhoods should see only light rainfall, though steadier rain is more likely toward the South Shore, Cape Cod and southeastern Massachusetts.
According to the National Weather Service, Boston could pick up less than a tenth of an inch Friday, while coastal areas farther south may receive more. Friday night remains mostly cloudy, with a 40% chance of showers and lows near 64 degrees.
Saturday Brings More Rain And Patchy Fog
Saturday looks cloudy and cool, with a high near 72 and another 40% chance of showers. Rain is possible before 10 a.m., then showers may continue alongside patchy fog, with rainfall totals between a quarter and half an inch possible.
The wetter stretch continues Saturday night, when showers become likely and the chance of rain rises to 70%. Fog may thicken as temperatures settle near 64, so drivers should be ready for damp roads and reduced visibility.
Sunday Storm Chances Give Way To Sunshine
Showers and thunderstorms are likely Sunday, especially after morning rain, with a high near 77 and a 70% chance of precipitation. The day should remain mostly cloudy, although drier air may begin moving in later.
The forecast finally turns friendlier Monday, when Boston should see sunny skies and a high near 82. Tuesday and Wednesday stay sunny as well, with highs near 76 and 79, respectively, giving outdoor plans a much better shot after the soggy weekend.
No watches, warnings or advisories are currently listed for Massachusetts, Rhode Island or Connecticut. Even so, umbrellas will be useful Friday through Sunday, and boaters should watch for rain-related visibility reductions and locally rougher water near the coast.
