A 16-year-old Knoxville girl is missing after leaving her South Knoxville home before dawn Tuesday, and authorities say she may be in the company of an unidentified male.
East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers identified the teen as Sophia Traina in a Facebook alert associated with the Knoxville Police Department.
What Police Say About Her Disappearance
According to the alert, Traina left her home near Giffin Elementary School at approximately 4 a.m. Tuesday. She is described as 5 feet tall and weighing about 80 pounds, and was last seen wearing a white Hello Kitty T-shirt, purple Hello Kitty pants and black Crocs.
Home security cameras reportedly captured an unidentified male stopping at Traina’s home several days before she disappeared. The man was seen driving a black Toyota Tacoma, and Crime Stoppers says Traina may be in his company; the alert does not identify him or explain his connection to her.

Anyone with information about Traina’s whereabouts can contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers anonymously by calling 877-363-8847, texting “ETTIPS” to 738477, using the P3 Tips app or submitting information through the organization’s website.
The Knoxville Police Department’s Investigations Bureau identifies East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers as part of its Major Crimes Division, according to the department’s official page. Anyone who believes Traina is in immediate danger should call 911 rather than wait for an anonymous tip line.
