St. Louis gets one more relatively easy summer day Friday, with clear skies, light winds and temperatures rising from the low 60s into the upper 80s. The calm start is a brief reset before a serious heat buildup takes over the forecast next week.
Sunny Friday Leads Into A Warmer Weekend
Friday, August 28, will be sunny with a high near 88 degrees, while northeast winds stay light at 1 to 5 mph. Saturday, August 29, remains mostly sunny and warmer, topping out near 89 before dipping to around 69 overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
Sunday, August 30, pushes the thermometer to about 94 degrees under sunny skies. Winds will turn southerly at roughly 6 to 10 mph, with no rain currently expected through the weekend.
Heat Builds Toward Near-100-Degree Highs
The bigger story arrives Monday through Thursday, when highs are forecast near 98 degrees Monday and 99 degrees Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Overnight lows will also become increasingly warm, staying around 74 degrees Sunday night and rising to the upper 70s from Monday night through Thursday morning.
Rain relief looks limited: the forecast gives Tuesday and Wednesday only a 1% to 3% chance of precipitation, followed by a 20% chance of showers Thursday morning, September 3, between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. The St. Louis weather office says the extended stretch could bring scattered temperatures around 100 degrees, though a formal heat advisory is not currently expected.

There are no watches or warnings posted for the St. Louis area as of Friday morning, but several consecutive days near 100 degrees can still be hard on people, pets and anyone working or exercising outdoors. The city’s cooling-site list advises residents to check available locations and call 2-1-1 for the latest regional information if the heat becomes difficult to manage.
