San Diego is waking to a cloudy marine layer and temperatures around 72 degrees, but the gray start will give way to a mostly sunny afternoon. The city’s official forecast calls for a high near 81, while hotter mesas and higher coastal terrain could climb into the mid to upper 80s.
A Heat Advisory remains in effect for San Diego County coastal areas through 8 PM today, according to the National Weather Service. West winds should stay light, generally between 0 and 10 mph, but hot conditions may still create a risk of heat illness for people spending long stretches outdoors.
Morning Clouds Give Way To Sun
Low clouds and patchy fog are expected to break up by late morning, with sunshine taking over through the afternoon. The marine layer should return tonight, bringing mostly cloudy skies and a low near 70 before another mostly sunny day tomorrow.
A Brief Midweek Cooldown
Temperatures ease slightly on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs near 80 and 79 degrees, respectively, while overnight lows settle around 69. The forecast remains essentially dry, with rain chances at or below 1% through Wednesday.
Warmer weather returns Thursday through Saturday, when highs are expected to reach roughly 80 to 81 degrees. The National Weather Service says increasing moisture could bring a slight uptick in humidity and isolated storm chances later in the week, mainly over the mountains and deserts, though San Diego’s current rain chances remain minimal.
