The Los Angeles streetwear label Madhappy has planted its first standalone café inside one of Hawaiʻi's most storied resorts. Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea has announced the opening of Pantry Maui, an all-day grab-and-go concept serving coffee, matcha, pastries, and island-inspired bowls to resort guests and local visitors alike.

Pantry Maui marks Madhappy's first standalone café and hospitality destination anywhere, and its first standalone location in Hawaiʻi, according to Maui Now. The concept began life in 2023 as an in-store food and beverage counter inside Madhappy's West Hollywood flagship on Melrose Avenue, before expanding into the brand's retail locations in New York, Malibu, and Tokyo, per Archiscene. Wailea is the first time the café has broken away from a clothing store to stand entirely on its own.

Madhappy co-founder and CEO Peiman Raf said the brand is proud to bring Pantry to Four Seasons Resort Maui, according to the resort's announcement. The mission-driven label was founded in Los Angeles in 2017 by Raf alongside Noah Raf, Mason Spector, and Joshua Sitt, built around mental health awareness and optimistic messaging after Spector's own experience with depression, according to Business Insider. The company drew high-level backing early on, when LVMH's investment arm took a minority stake through a $1.8 million seed round in October 2019 that also included Tommy Hilfiger and the co-founders of Sweetgreen, per Tatler Asia.

An All-Day Menu Built Around Island Ingredients

Pantry Maui bridges fashion, culinary, and luxury hospitality in a single space, offering house-made pastries, sandwiches, salads, wraps, smoothies, açaí bowls, gelato, and sundaes, according to the resort. Standout items on the menu include the Poi Coconut Crown pastry and the South Side Açaí Bowl, along with drinks like the Mango Sticky Rice Matcha Latte and a Banana Coconut Latte, each built around island ingredients such as lilikoi, coconut, and mango. Cold-pressed juices and tonics come from Maui Juice Co., rounding out a lineup the resort describes as all-day fare and island-inspired creations exclusive to Four Seasons Resort Maui.

Four Seasons Resort Maui's executive chef Ryan Schelling and executive sous chef AJ Thalakkat developed the curated offerings specifically for Maui alongside the Pantry team, per the resort's announcement. The café also sells apparel, accessories, drinkware, specialty packaged goods, and resort-exclusive products, plus specialty retail offerings unique to the Maui location.

Craft Coffee, Ceremonial Matcha, and Local Chocolate

Behind the counter, Pantry Maui leans on a roster of specialty suppliers rather than standard hotel vendors. Its coffee comes from Los Angeles roastery Loquat, which created a signature blend exclusively for Pantry; Loquat was launched in Cypress Park in August 2022 by AJ Kim and Scott Sohn as the house-roasting sibling to their multi-roaster shop Kumquat Coffee Co., according to Daily Coffee News. The café's ceremonial-grade matcha is sourced from Nekohama, which pulls JAS-certified organic green tea directly from family-operated farms in Kyushu, Japan, with founder oversight maintained in Japan to ensure quality, per the Daily Bruin. That craft matcha sourcing rides a larger wave in specialty beverages — Grand View Research valued the global matcha market at $4.69 billion in 2024, with projections putting it at $7.43 billion by 2030, the Daily Bruin reports.

Chocolate at Pantry Maui is made with Hawaiʻi-grown cacao from Lonohana Estate Chocolate, which became Hawaiʻi's largest cacao grower in June 2026 after acquiring the 151-acre Waialua Estate orchard on Oʻahu's North Shore from Dole Food Company, according to Lonohana Estate Chocolate. The grower practices regenerative agroforestry, cultivating cacao within restored lowland forest on the island.

Part of a Larger Property Overhaul

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea Regional Vice President and General Manager Konrad Gstrein said Pantry represents the resort's continued commitment to thoughtful, high-quality guest offerings, according to the resort's announcement. Pantry Maui's opening lands amid a broader, multi-year transformation across the property that has already delivered a reimagined club floor, which opened in May 2026, and the new Kai Holo Spa, which opened in July 2026, according to Luxury Travel Advisor. The overhaul also includes new pool cabanas, immersive cultural spaces, and expanded wellness offerings, with refreshed guest rooms and suites expected to debut in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The resort itself carries considerable weight in Hawaiian luxury hospitality. Four Seasons Resort Maui opened in February 1990 as the company's first Hawaiʻi property and remains the island's only resort holding both AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five-Star ratings, according to Wikipedia. It was built for roughly $180 million on 15 oceanfront acres. The property also gained global pop-culture recognition as the primary filming location for Season 1 of HBO's satirical drama The White Lotus, shot on site in late 2020, per Forbes.

Pantry Maui is open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and can be reached at 808-874-8000.
