Atlanta is starting Sunday with clear skies, comfortable early temperatures and a hot afternoon ahead. The city should reach about 92 degrees under mostly sunny skies, with only a slight chance of rain.
Northwest winds will run 5 to 10 mph and could gust as high as 20 mph, offering a little movement in the air during the afternoon. No watches, warnings or advisories are in effect for the area, according to the National Weather Service.
Clear Skies Give Way To Cooler Nights
Sunday night should be mostly clear, with temperatures falling to around 69 degrees and light north winds. Monday will be another mostly dry day, partly sunny and near 91 degrees.
Tuesday stays warm near 92 degrees, but the mornings should feel somewhat more comfortable as drier air settles over North Georgia. That break from peak summer stickiness may be brief, however.
Storm Chances Rise By Thursday
A few showers or thunderstorms could develop Wednesday afternoon, when the rain chance reaches about 30%. The bigger shift arrives Thursday, when showers and thunderstorms are likely and the chance of precipitation rises to around 70%, according to the NWS forecast discussion.
Friday remains unsettled, with a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms and a high near 90 degrees. Saturday looks mostly sunny at first, but another round of afternoon storms could develop.
