Lynyrd Skynyrd returns to Cincinnati’s Riverbend Music Center this Saturday, bringing its Southern-rock catalog back to a venue that holds unusually personal meaning for guitarist Rickey Medlocke. The show pairs the band with Foreigner for a double-header built around giant riffs, familiar anthems and several generations of fans.
The official Riverbend Music Center listing has doors opening at 5 p.m. and music beginning at 6:30 p.m., with Six Gun Sally scheduled as the special guest. The concert is part of the Double Trouble Double Vision Tour, which brings both veteran bands to the outdoor amphitheater for one of the summer’s loudest classic-rock bookings.
According to Foreigner, the co-headlining run includes 19 North American appearances. The tour began in July and is scheduled to wrap later this month, making the Cincinnati stop part of a compact summer trek rather than a sprawling yearlong road trip.
Medlocke gives the Skynyrd lineup a direct link to the band’s earliest days and its post-reunion era. The band’s official biography says he was with Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1970 and 1971 before returning in 1996 at the invitation of guitarist Gary Rossington, and he has now remained with the group for more than 32 years.
Riverbend Holds A Personal Place In Medlocke’s Story
The Cincinnati connection goes beyond another date on the tour calendar. In an interview with the Cincinnati Enquirer, Medlocke said he met his wife at Riverbend in 2008 while touring with Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd. He also discussed his affection for Cincinnati chili, including his preference for eating it over Fritos or fries and adding Tabasco.
Onstage, Medlocke has singled out songs such as Tuesday’s Gone and Simple Man as favorites to perform. Lynyrd Skynyrd is also adding deeper cuts to its 2026 shows, giving longtime listeners at least a chance of hearing something beyond the usual greatest-hits procession.
What Cincinnati Fans Should Know Before The Show
Riverbend says parking is included with tickets, while its lots generally open two hours before doors. The venue also warns concertgoers to expect metal detectors, visual inspections and bag checks, and the event is scheduled to go on rain or shine, according to the venue’s visitor information.
For Cincinnati, the appeal is straightforward: Foreigner brings its own stack of arena-rock staples, while Skynyrd arrives with a guitarist whose history reaches back to the band’s formative years. Add Medlocke’s Riverbend love story to the bill, and Saturday’s concert comes with a little more local lore than the average stop on the classic-rock circuit.
