According to a Facebook post from Ed Gonzalez, the crash involved three vehicles and knocked out both the service road and the main lanes in the area. Houston TranStar logs confirmed the collision was verified at 6:22 p.m. Friday, and as reported by KHOU 11, the crash completely blocked all westbound mainlanes, both shoulders, three frontage road lanes, and an exit ramp after Freeport Boulevard. That meant deputies and MAP crews had only a narrow window to clear the crash scene before construction crews were due to move in for planned roadwork.
The crash site falls within the patrol jurisdiction of Harris County Sheriff's Office District 3, which covers unincorporated East Harris County communities including Channelview, Highlands, and East Houston, according to Community Impact.
