Mint Hill just got a serious manufacturing upgrade: Wisconsin-based Inpro has opened a 165,000-square-foot production site that is bringing 60 jobs and consolidating two North Carolina operations under one roof. The facility began operations in February and was formally celebrated with a ribbon-cutting Tuesday.
According to The Charlotte Observer, the new site combines Inpro WT Commercial Window Treatments with the company's Privacy Systems division. Inpro has about 800 employees across its locations in Muskego, Wisconsin, Mint Hill and Phoenix, the newspaper reported.
The company makes products used in commercial buildings, including motorized and manual roller shades, cubicle curtains and shower curtains. Inpro's 2024 project announcement said the facility would increase production and inventory capacity while streamlining operations.
Production moves under one Mint Hill roof
The Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce described Tuesday's event as a grand opening and ribbon-cutting, complete with facility tours and an introduction to the local Inpro team. The ceremony marked the public debut of a plant that is already producing goods, rather than merely posing for a ceremonial photo with a giant pair of scissors.
Expansion follows a string of acquisitions
Inpro's local footprint grew through acquisitions: The company purchased Hinkel in 2015 and WT Shade in 2022, according to The Charlotte Observer. The Mint Hill facility brings that North Carolina work together as Inpro expands its manufacturing capacity.
Inpro's original announcement said the building would include a showroom and training center alongside the production floor. The project was designed by Little Architecture and built by Rodgers Builders, with the company initially projecting a 13- to 16-month construction timeline, according to Inpro.
For Mint Hill, the practical headline is straightforward: 60 jobs and a 165,000-square-foot industrial anchor are now part of the town's business map. The ribbon-cutting was the ceremonial moment; the bigger story is that production is already underway.
