A 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy were shot Tuesday night in southwest Atlanta's Glenrose Heights neighborhood, and both were taken to a hospital, according to Atlanta police. Officers have not disclosed the extent of either victim's injuries or what led to the gunfire.
The shooting happened near the intersection of Oak Drive and Empire Boulevard, according to Atlanta News First. Responding officers found the girl and boy with apparent gunshot wounds and had them transported for treatment. Police have not said how serious their injuries are.
No Word Yet on What Sparked the Shooting
Investigators have not released any information about what led up to Tuesday's shooting, per the same outlet's report. The circumstances remain unclear, and no suspect information has been made public as the case continues to develop.
This is not the first time gunfire has struck this stretch of southwest Atlanta. In March, police investigated a deadly shooting at 8 Cleveland Avenue SW in Glenrose Heights, where, as FOX 5 Atlanta reported, a man was shot and killed on a sidewalk near the corner of Cleveland Avenue SE and Macon Drive SW, in front of the 24/7 Food Mart, around 7:20 p.m.
Tuesday's shooting follows a deadly shooting in Glenrose Heights in March. This remains a developing story, and further details are expected as investigators continue their work.
