Acid Bath is scheduled to headline Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Tuesday, while Sleep is set to perform at the Ogden Theatre the following night. The venues set different boundaries for the shows
Red Rocks Amphitheatre has an official capacity of 9,525 seats and recorded more than 1.72 million paid attendees across 236 events in 2025, according to Denver Arts & Venues, which owns and operates the city-run venue. The Ogden Theatre holds up to 1,600 concertgoers. The Capitol Hill venue opened in 1917, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and was renovated and reopened for live music in 1993, according to Visit Denver.
Acid Bath returns with its original catalog
Acid Bath broke up in 1997 after original bassist Audie Pitre and his parents were killed in a January car collision caused by a drunk driver in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, according to Consequence. The band announced its reunion in 2024 and played its first show in nearly 30 years in April 2025, according to Westword.
The reunion lineup includes original members Dax Riggs, Sammy Pierre Duet and Mike Sanchez, with Zack Simmons on drums and Alex Bergeron on bass, according to Consequence. Those musicians fill the positions associated with original drummer Jimmy Kyle and the late Pitre. Acid Bath’s studio catalog consists of 1994’s “When the Kite String Pops” and 1996’s “Paegan Terrorism Tactics.”
The band also headlined the Denver edition of Decibel Metal & Beer Fest in December, according to Westword. Slipknot’s Corey Taylor has cited Acid Bath as an influence, according to The Cosmic Clash.
Sleep presents a new lineup and album
Sleep’s current three-member lineup consists of bassist and vocalist Al Cisneros, drummer Dale Crover and guitarist Bubba Dupree. The group’s album “Hempispheres” is its first full-length record without founding guitarist Matt Pike and longtime drummer Jason Roeder, according to the supplied Consequence reporting. Third Man Records lists a digital release on September 3 and a physical release on October 30: Third Man Records.
The album follows Sleep’s 2018 release “The Sciences.” It was recorded at the Melvins’ studio with longtime engineer Toshi Kasai, and its title track includes an unusually long guitar solo, according to Westword. The Ogden performance is part of Sleep’s fall 2026 North American headline tour, which began September 8 in San Diego, according to Blabbermouth. The tour is the band’s first extended routing since a group of select dates in 2022, and the Denver show will use the three-member lineup.
