Augusta Street Market is a New York-style deli on Augusta Road in Greenville.
The expansion news comes from co-founders Shane Taylor and Nick Petracca, according to Greenville News.
From Augusta Road Grab-and-Go to Growing Deli Group
Augusta Street Market opened in November 2024 at 3017 Augusta St., a storefront on Augusta Road previously occupied by grab-and-go health food shop Tasty As Fit, which closed its Greenville location in October 2022, citing a labor situation, according to the Post and Courier. Taylor held onto that lease for nearly two years while he waited for the right concept and partner to fill the space, the paper reported. That partner turned out to be Petracca, who Taylor originally recruited as an informal New York City deli consultant before Petracca visited Greenville and agreed to become a full business partner in February 2024, according to the Greenville Journal.
Petracca previously worked in investment banking in New York City, and per Greenville News, he has said hospitality brings him more joy than investment banking did. Taylor and Petracca connected about two and a half years before the Greenville News report, and Taylor started the business.
Sandwiches Anchor the Menu
The Clemson location will open at 130 Thurmond Lane, Suite 101, inside Patrick Square.
The Greenville shop's menu has built its reputation on sandwiches like The Mulberry, made with chicken cutlet, mozzarella or burrata, vodka sauce, braised tomatoes, and fried basil, and The Bleeker, stacked with mortadella, prosciutto, spicy soppressata, and Calabrian chili paste, according to the Upstate Business Journal.
A Bread Program With Local Roots
The shop's focus on scratch-made food and genuine hospitality extends to its bread program, which staff learned under the guidance of Julian Loué, founder of Rise Bakery in the Village of West Greenville, according to the Greenville Journal.
Augusta Street Market sources produce through Swamp Rabbit Café & Grocery's Food Hub and serves coffee from Greenville-based Methodical Coffee, the Post and Courier has reported.
