A 56-year-old Augusta woman was found dead inside her home in the 1900 block of Watkins Street, and Richmond County sheriff's deputies now want the public's help identifying a man they hope to interview about her killing. Alexandra Alston was pronounced dead at 12:28 a.m. from injuries she sustained, and investigators are asking anyone who may have crossed paths with a bearded stranger carrying a clipboard in the Harrisburg area to come forward.
Homicide Confirmed on Watkins Street
Investigators said the homicide happened on September 25 in the 1900 block of Watkins Street in Augusta, according to WRDW. Alston was found dead inside her home, and she died from injuries she sustained. The coroner's office has scheduled an autopsy. Richmond County sheriff's deputies are now asking the public for help identifying a man they want to interview in connection with the investigation.
Officials said the man may have been soliciting employment door-to-door in the Harrisburg area within the previous 24 hours. The station's report notes he was last seen wearing an orange hooded shirt, gray pants, brown work boots and sunglasses, with long, dark hair and a full beard, and that he was carrying a clipboard.
Physical Description Points to Unknown White Male
Investigators are looking for an unknown white male described as approximately 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds, according to The Augusta Press. No arrest, charge or warrant has been announced, and deputies have not said whether the man is considered a suspect or simply someone they hope can offer information about what happened near Alston's home.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the man's identity or whereabouts to call (706) 821-1026 or (706) 821-1020. Deputies are also encouraging residents with security-camera footage that shows the man walking through the area to share it with the sheriff's office as investigators try to trace his movements before and after the homicide.
