A man died after being found with multiple gunshot wounds inside an Avondale home early Friday near Buckeye and Dysart roads, but investigators have not said what led to the shooting or identified a suspect. Officers were called to the home shortly before 4:30 a.m., and the victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died, FOX 10 Phoenix reported.
Police continued processing the home as part of the investigation. A section of Main Street between 4th and 7th streets was closed during the response, according to FOX 10. The victim's identity, the circumstances of the shooting and any potential charges remained undetermined in the available reporting.

A prior shooting nearby offers limited comparison
The area has seen other serious violence, though previous cases do not establish a pattern or explain Friday's shooting. In February 2022, a shooting near Van Buren Street and Dysart Road killed one boy and wounded another. Four people were later booked in connection with that case, according to Arizona's Family. That incident occurred near a different intersection and involved different victims and circumstances.
Broader numbers do not answer the local question
Countywide data also caution against treating one death, or a handful of incidents, as evidence of a rising local homicide rate. The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner reported that the county's population-adjusted homicide rate fell 22.1% in 2024, with 313 homicides recorded that year compared with a peak of 439 in 2022. Those figures cover the entire county and do not indicate how Friday's shooting occurred or whether it is connected to any other case, the agency's annual report says.
Avondale's public-safety budget reflects the city's broader investment in police and emergency-response services. The city's FY2027 tentative budget allocates $82.2 million, or 16% of all-funds spending, to public safety, according to city budget records. That allocation describes available municipal resources, not a finding about this investigation.
Detectives will need to establish where the shooting occurred within the home, who was present, what preceded the gunfire and whether anyone else was involved before prosecutors can determine whether charges are warranted. Police have not released those details.
