Ciao! Pizza and Pasta, the Chelsea pizzeria known for its Neapolitan pies and handcrafted pasta, is planning its first North Shore restaurant at 41 Sutton Street in Lynn. The new spot is expected to seat 70 guests and will include a full bar and a private dining room, though the business has not announced an exact opening date.
The Lynn address will occupy a space designed with custom artwork, a large bar, multiple televisions, a private dining room and an open dining room, according to MassLive. The location will also feature a wood-fired pizza oven, the outlet reports, continuing the brand's signature approach to Neapolitan-style pizza. The Chelsea Pulse similarly reports that the Lynn restaurant will occupy 41 Sutton Street with 70 seats, a full bar and a private dining room.
Ciao! Pizza and Pasta announced the Lynn expansion in a Sept. 3 Instagram post, per the same MassLive report, saying it will bring its signature pizzas, fresh pasta and other favorites to the new location. The business is expanding to the North Shore for the first time, marking its third Boston-area outpost after locations in Chelsea and Somerville.
From Chelsea Storefront to Multi-Location Brand
Co-owners Edson Coimbra and Marvin Posada opened the original restaurant at 59 Williams Street in Chelsea in 2015, according to The Chelsea Pulse. Ciao! Pizza and Pasta later opened a second location in Somerville in 2024, per MassLive's reporting. The Lynn restaurant will be the company's third location overall and its first beyond the immediate Boston area.
The Lynn menu is expected to retain the same options found in Chelsea while adding some extra dishes, according to Boston Restaurants Blog. That blog also notes the Lynn opening could happen sometime this month if plans proceed as expected, while The Chelsea Pulse reports an opening timeframe of September without a specific date confirmed. MassLive states plainly that an exact opening date for the Lynn location has yet to be revealed.
A Menu Built on National Recognition
The restaurant's menu features several wood-fired pizzas, handcrafted pasta dishes and panini, MassLive reports. One standout is the Gnocchetti, served with red wine-braised short ribs, root vegetables and Parmesan for $25 — a dish that landed on Yelp's list of top pasta picks from every state. Yelp has also called Ciao! Pizza and Pasta home to the best pasta dish in Massachusetts, per the same MassLive account.
The accolades extend well beyond pasta. Ciao! Pizza and Pasta ranked No. 2 on Yelp's 2023 list of top pizza spots in the United States and Canada, a distinction confirmed on the restaurant's own website, ciaopizzaandpasta.com. Food Network named the restaurant to its 2018 list of Best Pizzas in America's Biggest Cities, and Boston Magazine voted it the best pizza in Boston in 2017, according to MassLive. Boston Restaurants Blog adds that the business has also drawn recognition from The Boston Globe.
Word of the expansion has already spread among local food fans. A Threads post from the account bostonfoodietours celebrated the news, writing that the Chelsea favorite is opening a location in Lynn. For now, North Shore diners eager for a taste of the Yelp-ranked pies and Boston Magazine-honored pizza will have to wait for an official opening date.
