Paul Sadergaski, a 28-year-old choir teacher in Bangor, Wisconsin, faces one charge of grooming a child for sexual activity from a position of trust and three counts of possessing child pornography, according to WEAU. Police say a search warrant led to the discovery of videos containing child sexual assault material and photographs that appear to show students. Sadergaski was placed on administrative leave from the school district.
According to WEAU, the reported crimes occurred between June 15 and August 22, 2026. The station reported that after the Bangor Police Department obtained a search warrant, its chief observed multiple videos containing child sexual assault material, along with numerous pictures that appear to have been taken of students by Sadergaski. Many of those depicted in the images were said to be current Bangor middle school students, according to officials.
Sadergaski had been placed on administrative leave from the district while the investigation continued, per a report from WEAU.
How the Alleged Contact With a Student Began
Court records described by WLFI include an account from a student identified as Victim 1. She told investigators that she had played pickleball with Sadergaski, his wife and a friend, and later exchanged messages with Sadergaski after he obtained her phone number. The messages initially concerned summer school and a musical camp, according to the account. The student said there was no physical contact between them.
District Response and Ongoing Search Warrant
The Bangor Police Department obtained the search warrant as part of its investigation. The district has placed Sadergaski on administrative leave, and school officials have said student safety and well-being remain their top priority while the case proceeds.
Wisconsin reporting and licensing requirements
The case also falls within broader Wisconsin requirements for educator-misconduct reporting. According to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, school administrators must report to the state superintendent employees who meet the criteria set out in Wis. Stat. 115.31. The department says it investigates qualifying reports to determine whether to initiate license-revocation proceedings and may publicly list educators under investigation. The department also maintains a public database listing individuals whose licenses have been revoked or surrendered after action for immoral conduct or incompetence.
Authorities also have not publicly identified the students shown in the recovered images, disclosed their ages or stated how many students were depicted.
