A Familiar Fixture Adjusts to Construction
The festival is taking place as scheduled this weekend, according to the Blue Springs Fall Fun Festival, which describes the weekend as a chance to explore more than 200 unique vendor booths alongside live music, food, a classic car show, a parade and carnival rides. Organizers have said the ongoing Main Street work will require adjustments but will not stop the festival from happening this year. As KMBC 9 News reports, the weekend brings back the same mix of vendors, live music and activities that has defined the event for decades.
The construction reshaping downtown is part of a voter-approved $5 million improvement project on Main Street, according to fox4kc.com. The project is expected to run 330 days and wrap up in May 2027, per the same station's report. That timeline means the disruption isn't a one-weekend inconvenience — it's a construction zone the festival has had to build around for the better part of a year.
Parade and Festival Adjustments
Ongoing construction on Main Street is forcing organizers to adjust the festival's layout this year. Some vendors have been moved to the south side of the event near SW Smith Street and NW 12th Street, the fox4kc.com report notes, shifting foot traffic away from the usual downtown core.
The festival also includes a parade. Festival hours extend until 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Not Every Business Escapes Unscathed
The road work hasn't been free of cost for nearby businesses. David Mann told fox4kc.com that his business, East Forty Brewing, has lost a little revenue because of the construction project. Still, Mann said the Fall Fun Festival is his business's biggest event of the year, and he's hopeful the weekend crowd will help make up for some of that lost cash.
