Memphis police are looking for two men accused of smashing their way into an adult store on Brooks Road overnight and walking off with roughly $3,000 in merchandise. Officers responded to the burglary at Romantix, located at 2214 Brooks Road, early Friday morning, and investigators say the break-in happened fast. Police released a description of the getaway car.
According to the Memphis Police Department, officers were called to the store at 12:53 a.m. on September 11 after two males gained entry by breaking the front door glass with a red bolt cutter. Once inside, the suspects stole merchandise valued at approximately $3,000, police said. As WMC Action News 5 first reported, the burglary was captured on surveillance video, though police have not identified the suspects or announced any arrests.
What The Suspects Looked Like
Police described the first suspect as wearing a black hoodie with “Amiri” in white lettering, along with black pants and black shoes, per the department's account. The second suspect was described as a male with a thin build, wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and white shoes. Investigators believe the pair may have used a dark-colored SUV or crossover to leave the scene.
A Familiar Target For Break-Ins
This isn't the first time a Romantix location in Memphis has been targeted. A separate case from December 2023 detailed a burglary at a Romantix on Getwell Road, where LocalMemphis reported that a safe, a cash register, and $11,000 in merchandise were taken, with four suspects escaping in a black four-door sedan. That same report said investigators believed four separate business burglaries that December were connected, though no arrests had been made at the time and the investigation remained open. In an earlier case from December 2016, Action News 5 reported that two men were caught on surveillance video burglarizing a Romantix on East Brooks Road around 9:40 a.m., stealing merchandise and money. None of these past incidents have been confirmed as connected to the September 11 break-in at the Brooks Road store.
