The National Weather Service says rain will overspread the region in the morning, with some storms capable of producing torrential downpours. A Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday afternoon, including Boston and areas south and east, according to the National Weather Service.
Flood Risk Peaks Before Afternoon Exit
Rain is expected across the area Sunday morning, with heavy rain possible. Widespread rainfall of roughly 1 to 2 inches is possible, while narrow bands of storms could drop 2 to 4 inches in three hours and cause flooding in low-lying, urban and poor-drainage areas.
Most steady showers should taper from west to east, although rain may linger. Patchy fog could also reduce visibility, so drivers should avoid water-covered roads and never attempt to cross a flooded street.
Clearer, Cooler Pattern Takes Over
Tonight will stay mostly cloudy with a low near 63. Monday will bring quieter weather.
Monday night follows, and Tuesday brings dry weather. Wednesday brings warmer conditions, while a cold front is possible by Thursday.
