A person was shot in the arm or leg near a bus stop at Flamingo Road and Boulder Highway early Tuesday, and officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department detained a suspect. The victim's wound is not considered life-threatening, and the shooting follows two other shootings in the broader area in 2026.
Officers responded around 2:47 a.m. to a report of a person shot, according to KSNV. Police confirmed a suspect was detained but disclosed no further details about a possible motive or the relationship between the two, if any. As reported by Cedar News, the victim suffered a gunshot wound to a limb, and LVMPD did not release a motive or further details about the suspect at the time.
The department's investigation remains ongoing, and it is not yet clear what charges, if any, will be filed.
A Corridor With a Violent Pattern in 2026
Tuesday's shooting follows two other shootings in the broader Flamingo Road and Boulder Highway area this year. LVMPD investigated a fatal shooting at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Boulder Highway on June 2, which killed one person, injured another, and forced a temporary closure of Flamingo Road, as Hoodline previously reported. Four days before that, on May 29, a man survived being shot in the head following a fight inside a local business near Boulder Highway and Flamingo Road, with the case remaining under investigation and the injury described as non-life-threatening, according to KTNV's coverage of the incident.
The pattern extends further back. In February 2025, LVMPD and the FBI Safe Streets Gang Task Force announced open murder charges against three suspects tied to a November 2021 fatal shooting at a transit bus stop on the 5000 block of South Boulder Highway, according to Hoodline's prior reporting. The corridor has also been the subject of public-safety coverage.
Police Operations and Ongoing Infrastructure Work
The Southeast Area Command station itself relocated its public headquarters as of September 1, moving from 3675 E. Harmon Ave. to 2300 S. Hollywood Blvd. while the original facility undergoes renovations, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Meanwhile, work is underway on the Reimagine Boulder Highway project, as reported by FOX5 Las Vegas. The project aims to add upgraded transit features, streetlights, narrower lanes, and wider sidewalks. Safety at transit stops remains a public concern.
Separately, work near the interchange has continued. Whether the suspect and victim in Tuesday's shooting knew each other, and what charges the Clark County District Attorney's Office may ultimately pursue, remain open questions as LVMPD's investigation continues.
