A 16-year-old Brentwood boy was shot in the abdomen as he left a house party in Antioch on Saturday night, and gunfire from the same burst of shots tore into two nearby homes. The teenager was dropped off at a local hospital and is expected to survive, but police say they have no suspect information as they work to piece together what happened on Prewett Ranch Drive.
According to contracosta.news, the Antioch Police Department Dispatch Center received multiple calls at 8:56 p.m. Saturday reporting five to six gunshots in the 5400 block of Prewett Ranch Drive. The teen later told officers he had been leaving a house party on that same street when the shooting occurred, and police confirmed the gunfire was connected to that gathering.
The victim was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the abdomen, per the outlet's report. As shots rang out, two nearby residences were also struck by gunfire, though no additional injuries were reported beyond the teen's wound.
No Suspect Identified As Investigation Continues
Investigators have not released any suspect description, vehicle information, or motive, and the case remains active. The Antioch Police Department is asking anyone with information, or with home surveillance or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the shooting, to come forward and contact the department, the same report notes.
As The Mercury News also reported, the teen was leaving the gathering when he was struck, underscoring how quickly a night out at a party turned into a shooting scene with stray rounds hitting occupied homes.
A Painful Pattern Of Bay Area Party Shootings
This is not the first time a house party in the region has erupted into gunfire with teenagers caught in the crossfire. An Antioch house-party shooting left one teenager dead and six other people injured, according to the Antioch Police Department, with KRON4 reporting that police determined a total of seven people were shot, including an 18-year-old woman who died. That report also described the incident as part of a string of mass shootings across the Bay Area over a three-day span.
In nearby Oakley, a shooting on Oct. 21, 2023, at a house party on the 400 block of Shannon Way killed 16-year-old Ke’Marion Tucker of Brentwood and injured three other teenagers, according to the Mercury News. Police said that shooting broke out shortly after officers had left the home following a noise complaint. Sean Karp was later sentenced to 30 years in prison on Aug. 12, 2025, after accepting convictions for voluntary manslaughter and assault with a firearm in that case.
No arrests have been announced in Saturday's Prewett Ranch Drive shooting, and police have not said whether it is connected in any way to those earlier incidents. For now, the investigation continues as officers seek footage and witnesses who can help identify who opened fire outside the party.
