CenterCal Properties is undertaking a multiyear renovation of Tigard-Tualatin’s Bridgeport Village while adding new retail, food and home-related tenants. The company announced eight incoming tenants, in a development first reported by OregonLive. Erika Plummer, the company’s vice president of leasing, described the year as a landmark one for the center. Warby Parker, Tecovas and Nuna have already opened in recent months.
A redesigned setting for new leases
The leasing changes come during CenterCal’s $35 million refresh, which began in 2022. The work includes a Village Green, covered outdoor areas and a children’s play space, according to Tualatin Life. The project adds outdoor-use areas while new tenants occupy spaces for furnishings, cooking, apparel and food.
A new tenant cycle at an established center
According to The Oregonian/OregonLive, Bridgeport Village opened in 2005, about 8 miles south of downtown Portland, as a gathering space for the southwest suburbs. The current arrivals are smaller in number than the center’s original influx: the Portland Business Journal reported that more than 20 new-to-Oregon retailers opened with the center in 2004 and 2005, compared with the eight tenants announced now.
The project reporting cited here documents the refresh’s planned amenities, including the Village Green, covered outdoor areas and children’s play space. It does not specify the public-approval steps for the work or identify which portions of the renovation remain unfinished.
Two MillerKnoll brands will open at Bridgeport Village: Herman Miller and Design Within Reach. Herman Miller is scheduled to open Sept. 25. City Home will also open at Bridgeport Village, with its opening scheduled for Oct. 1.
Retailers are pairing stores with activities
Sur La Table’s arrival will be anchored around an in-store cooking school.
The apparel lineup includes Rothy’s, which will open its first Oregon location on Friday, and FP Movement, the activewear brand created under Free People. FP Movement also operates in Bend’s Old Mill District. Rothy’s opening and its Oregon debut were reported by Your Oregon News.
Two existing local businesses are changing locations
Mikiko Mochi Donuts, a gluten-free and vegan bakery with locations in Portland, Beaverton and Portland International Airport, is moving its Beaverton operation to 7319 SW Bridgeport Rd., according to WhatNow. The move is therefore a relocation rather than an additional shop.
Miss Hannah’s Gourmet Popcorn, a family-run Newburg business, opened at Bridgeport Village earlier this month. The vendor previously operated as a temporary holiday pop-up before taking a permanent, year-round space at 7301 SW Bridgeport Rd. The two moves add local operators alongside the national and regional brands announced for the center.
A constrained market provides broader context
The openings coincide with limited retail availability in the Portland metropolitan area. That broader market context does not establish CenterCal’s stated reason for choosing any particular Bridgeport Village tenant.
