A Brockton man has pleaded guilty to a federal firearms charge stemming from a chaotic house-party shootout more than two years ago that left a 31-year-old woman shot in the chest. Romeo Miller, identified as either 26 or 28 years old depending on the source, admitted to being a felon in possession of ammunition and is scheduled to be sentenced on December 17.
The case traces back to the early morning hours of June 2, 2024, when Brockton police responded to a report of shots fired at a home, according to MassLive. Officers arriving on scene found a crowd outside the house and a 31-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and survived, as reported by WCVB.
According to The Enterprise, the fight that preceded the gunfire broke out in the driveway at roughly 1:45 a.m. Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators showed the altercation escalating into an exchange of gunshots between the victim and three men, WCVB reported, with Miller allegedly among those who opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Surveillance Video Central to Federal Case
Investigators leaned heavily on that surveillance footage to build their case against Miller. Boston 25 News reported that Miller is seen on the video crossing the street and hiding behind a parked car, from where he allegedly shot the victim in the chest.
Miller was one of four Brockton men indicted in federal court in connection with the shooting, alongside Natalio Miranda, Jonathan Alves and Jahleil Monteiro, per the same Boston 25 News account. Miller was identified as one of the three men involved in the gunfire exchange with the victim.
Fugitive Arrest Followed Months on the Run
WCVB reported that Miller was still at large on February 21, 2025. MassLive reported his arrest in Taunton in April 2025. WCVB identified Miller as 26, while MassLive described him as a Brockton resident charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition. MassLive's more recent report on his guilty plea instead lists him as 28.
The felon-in-possession-of-ammunition charge Miller pleaded guilty to carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000, The Enterprise reported. His sentencing has been scheduled for December 17.
