A car crashed into the pro shop at Brae Burn Country Club in West Newton on Saturday, injuring the driver and two employees who work at the club. All three suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital, while the impact left a wall damaged badly enough that it had to be boarded up afterward.
Newton police responded to the club on Fuller Street after the crash, according to NBC Boston. Police said the driver and the two pro shop workers were transported for minor injuries, and a city engineer responded to assess the damaged wall. Officers also said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Investigation Continues, No Sign of Criminal Intent
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but police said early indications suggest it does not appear to be criminal. Beyond confirming the injuries and the alcohol determination, authorities have not released additional details about what led the vehicle to strike the building.
Brae Burn's pro shop was the site of Saturday's crash, and the boarded-up wall is a visible reminder of the incident while repairs and the investigation move forward.
Not the Club's First Vehicle Mishap
This isn't the first time a vehicle has ended up somewhere it shouldn't at Brae Burn. In 2021, an SUV became stuck on the grass near the sixth hole after the driver told police that poor visibility and following the Waze navigation app led him to take a turn too wide, according to a report from bostonglobe.com. Officers were called to the club around 5 a.m. for that incident.
Saturday's crash injured three people and caused structural damage to the pro shop wall. Newton police have not indicated when the investigation into the cause of the crash will conclude.
