Forty vendor booths covering everything from healthcare to housing placement will fill the Pine Avenue Community Center in Carlsbad when the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce hosts the Older & Bolder EXPO. The free event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 3209 Harding St.
The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce's EXPO, covered by CBS 8, will again be free to the public.
The event will feature information about healthcare, financial planning, insurance, housing, legal services, and caregiving. The day also includes workshops on healthy-aging and financial topics, plus raffle prizes.
Why Carlsbad Keeps Expanding This Event
The EXPO's focus reflects a broader regional shift toward an older population. The region's population of adults aged 60 and older is projected to exceed 824,000 by 2029, according to KPBS.
The Chamber, which represents more than 1,000 member businesses and over 65,000 workers as San Diego County's second-largest business chamber, co-hosts the annual expo with its Aging Services Committee.
Financial Pressures Facing Local Seniors
Behind the workshops and vendor tables lies an urgent backdrop. Financial pressures, including housing costs, can weigh heavily on retirees living on fixed incomes.
San Diego County officials have responded with their own tracking tools. In February 2026, the county launched a centralized Aging Dashboard monitoring dozens of indicators, including housing costs and hospitalization rates, to help local institutions allocate aging resources, according to KPBS. The dashboard aligns with California's Master Plan for Aging, the station reports.
Caregivers Are Part of the Target Audience Too
The EXPO isn't just for seniors themselves; it also addresses caregiving needs.
Past editions have offered expert presentations on Medicare navigation, reverse mortgages, and home safety, according to Patch. The EXPO is free to attendees.
The Event's Venue
Pine Avenue Community Center is the venue for the event.
Community members interested in attending the event can explore vendor booths and community resources, alongside workshops.
