A 38-year-old man was found with several gunshot wounds early Sunday on the 1100 block of Ingleside Avenue in Catonsville, and he remains in critical but stable condition at a local hospital as Baltimore County Police detectives work to identify a shooter. Officers responded to the scene around 1:45 a.m., and the case now sits with the department's Violent Crimes Unit.
The shooting, first reported by WBFF, adds another violent incident to a stretch of Ingleside Avenue that has seen repeated gunfire over the past several years. In April 2025, Charles Meile was fatally shot on the same block, a case that led to the arrest of a 38-year-old suspect on murder charges the following month, according to Shore News Network.
A Block With a Violent Past
The 1100 block has a longer history than that single case. A June 2021 double shooting in the parking lot of BJ Mallards left a 30-year-old man dead and a woman injured, resulting in first-degree murder charges against two men, as CBS Baltimore reported at the time. And in October 2018, 26-year-old Catonsville resident Andy Lymonne Jackson Connely was fatally shot during an altercation on nearby Queen Anne Street before fleeing and collapsing in a driveway on the same block of Ingleside Avenue, the outlet also reported.
Sunday's shooting comes even as Baltimore County has seen violent crime fall to five-year lows countywide. The county recorded 41 nonfatal shootings and 28 homicides in 2025, down sharply from 75 nonfatal shootings and 55 homicides in 2021, according to police data published by The Baltimore Sun. The department also posted a 95% clearance rate for nonfatal shootings and a 93% clearance rate for homicides last year, solving 39 of 41 nonfatal shooting cases, per the same report.

Catonsville falls under Baltimore County Police's Precinct 1, known as the Wilkens Precinct, which operates out of 901 Walker Avenue and covers the county's western patrol area, according to Baltimore County Government records. The county broke ground in mid-2025 on a new $32 million, 34,000-square-foot Wilkens Precinct building to replace the aging 1962 station, a project shaped in part by heightened security concerns after a Baltimore County police officer was wounded in the precinct's own parking lot in March 2025, an incident that led to attempted first-degree murder charges against a 27-year-old suspect, as reported by WBAL-TV.
