Chapala's Mexican Restaurant remains open at 3331 East Tropicana Avenue but is planning to close in November as owner Jose Flores and his family retire, according to KTNV. The station said customers are being encouraged to visit before the end of the month.
The business previously consolidated its operations
The Flores family closed a second Chapala's location on South Decatur Boulevard in December 2011 after operating there for 25 years. Operations were then consolidated at the East Tropicana Avenue restaurant, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Recognition from local diners
Chapala's was included in Hoodline's 2020 list of neighborhood restaurants. The listing said the restaurant had received 101 Nextdoor recommendations and had been named a 2019 Neighborhood Favorite in seven neighborhoods.
A recent interruption to business
Wind storms later left Chapala's without power, creating another challenge for the independent restaurant, according to FOX5 Las Vegas. The outage is separate from the planned retirement-related closure reported by KTNV.
