Taco season is officially back in the Queen City. Cincinnati Taco Week returns for a seven-day run from Oct. 12 through Oct. 18, 2026, bringing $3 tacos to more than 30 participating restaurants across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
This marks the ninth year for the citywide food event, according to WKRC, which reports that organizers are encouraging diners to explore both street-style tacos and more elevated, gourmet offerings during the week-long run. The station notes organizers say the event aims to support local restaurants. Things kick off with a party set for Oct. 7 at Kroger in Over-the-Rhine, per the same report.
How the App and Points System Work
Diners looking to make the most of the week can lean on the Cincinnati Taco Week app, which lets users map out their stops and check in at participating locations, according to WKRC's reporting. Those check-ins translate into points, and app users can compete for the title of Cincinnati's Biggest Taco Lover, with a chance to win $300 in restaurant gift cards and additional prizes this year, per the station's account. A separate look at the app from mwm.ai notes it also includes filters for vegetarian and gluten-free choices, making it easier for diners with dietary restrictions to find something on the menu before they even walk in the door.
The prize structure has shifted from year to year. Last year's event, described by everythingcincy.com as the eighth annual citywide fiesta, ran Oct. 13-19, 2025 and offered $2.50 tacos with a minimum order of three per purchase. That coverage said diners who checked in at five or more locations were entered into a drawing for a $500 grand prize and sponsor merchandise, while the top point earner overall was crowned Cincinnati's Biggest Taco Lover and took home a $500 restaurant gift card. A separate report from the same outlet also described the 2025 grand prize as $500 in local restaurant gift cards. This year's WKRC report instead lists $300 in gift cards and additional prizes for the top taco lover, so diners should check the app for current terms rather than assume last year's numbers carry over.
Who's Serving Tacos This Year
The 2026 lineup spans a wide swath of the region, from Over-the-Rhine to Eastgate. Restaurants confirmed to participate include La Torta Loca, Livery Montgomery, Lucius Q, Madres Modern Mexican, Mazunte Centro, Mazunte Taqueria, Mi Cozumel, Pata Roja Taqueria, RJ Craft BBQ at RJ Cinema Eastgate, Roberto & Miguel's Handcrafted Mexican, Sammy's Craft Burgers & Beers, The Chase Rooftop at Moxy Hotel and Zambrero, according to WKRC.
Also on this year's list are Agave & Rye, Azul Tacos & Tequila, Bakersfield, Bandito Food Park, Blue Ash Chili, Braxton Barrel House, Cocina 1883 at On The Rhine Eatery, El Caporal, El Barril Mexican Sports Bar, El Rancho Nuevo, El Trompo Mexican Grill, El Taco Veloz, El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant and Frida 602, per the same report. A Fixture With a History of Cheap Tacos
Cincinnati Taco Week is a recurring event that pairs bargain pricing with creative menu items. In an earlier iteration of the event, WCPO reported the week ran from Oct. 9-15 in what it called the event's sixth year, with tacos offered at 50 different restaurants for $2.50 each — figures that differ from what organizers are citing for 2026. That report also detailed specialty tacos like Bandito Food Park + Cantina's Creamy Dude Seriously, built with a crispy chicken tender, hot sauce, fried onion rings and Takis on a flour tortilla, and Yoli's Pool House's Cauliflower Al Pastor, a vegetarian option with marinated grilled cauliflower, pineapple, onion and cilantro in a white corn tortilla. WCPO also noted that some restaurants offer up to three different taco options during the week, giving repeat visitors plenty of reason to make multiple stops.
Past participant lists have included familiar names such as Agave & Rye, Mi Cozumel and Lucius Q, according to WCPO's earlier coverage. Its 2023 list also included Condado and Taco Fuerte at Braxton Barrel House & Braxton Cincinnati. everythingcincy.com's account of the 2025 event similarly listed Braxton Barrel House, El Vaquero, La Torta Loca, Livery, Lucius Q and Mazunte among participants, along with an interactive map that let diners earn points just by checking in — a feature that has since carried over into this year's app-based system.
